Alex Petrasincu’s practice focuses on German and European competition law. He advises German and international companies on all aspects of competition law, including merger control, cartels, and anticompetitive agreements, and abuse of dominance. He has particular experience representing parties in cartel damages actions before the German courts as well as defending clients in cartel investigations conducted by the European Commission and the German Federal Cartel Office. Prior to joining Jones Day, Alex worked in the competition law practice of a leading international law firm in Cologne and Brussels for more than four years. Before that, he clerked at the European Commission’s Directorate General for Competition. While writing his doctoral thesis on European and U.S. merger control, he also worked as a research assistant in the competition law department of a major international law firm in Düsseldorf. He regularly writes articles regarding German and EU competition law and procedure.
