George is a corporate and commercial lawyer based in London. He specialises in all aspects of intellectual property law including patents, design rights, copyright, database rights, trade marks and trade secrets. His practice has a particular focus on the life sciences & healthcare and the technology & innovation sectors. George has extensive experience advising on rights acquisitions, technology transfer, licensing, sourcing of goods and services, and on other commercial arrangements, including in the context of mergers and acquisitions and joint venture transactions. He regularly advises on laws and regulation relevant to his sector focuses including those covering the biopharmaceutical and medical device product lifecycles (from new product discovery, development, marketing to supply), marketing and advertising of other products and services, and data protection. George joined the London office in 2010. He was previously located in our Melbourne office and joined this office after a 12 month secondment to GlaxoSmithKline’s Legal Operations Research & Development team based in London. He has subsequently undertaken a further 5 month secondment to the GSK team. Earlier secondments included a number to the global sourcing and technology team of the Australia and New Zealand Banking Group. George is an Australian solicitor and trade mark attorney, having obtained a Bachelor of Laws and then a Master of Laws specialising in intellectual law. He is also a solicitor of England and Wales, having successfully completed the Qualified Lawyers Transfer Scheme. George has an undergraduate and postgraduate degree in chemistry and is a chartered member of the Royal Australian Chemical Institute. Prior to his legal career, George worked for a number of years as a chemist for an Australian pharmaceutical company which has given him valuable knowledge of and insight into this sector.
