Jean-Paul Tran Thiet heads the Paris EU, Competition and Regulatory Practice. He specializes in EU and French Competition law and regulated industries, such as telecommunications, energy, and transport. Jean-Paul capitalizes on his experience of more than thirty years in these areas. Before entering the legal practice in 1992, he has held top-ranking positions as a high official in both Paris and Brussels. Jean-Paul’s current activities notably include advising businesses in Europe and in France experiencing competition-related problems (agreements and concerted practices, dominant positions, mergers, state aids, etc.). His activity includes assistance in all other fields of European law, negotiating and drafting contracts, and assistance in setting up national and international co-operation and distribution networks. He advises clients in negotiating and applying European and national laws in system industries, notably in relation to the liberalization of the electricity and gas markets, telecommunications and broadcasting, transport (air, rail, sea, and urban transportation), and postal services.
