Dr. Ramanarayanan is an Assistant Professor of strategy and policy at UCLA Anderson. An economist by training, his research focuses on competition in health care markets and its impact on health care costs and quality. Recent projects include examining the extent to which rising health insurance premiums are explained by market structure and ownership in the private health insurance industry, as well as investigating the response of outpatient dialysis facilities to being rated on quality. Professor Ramanarayanan holds a PhD in managerial economics and strategy from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management (Calcutta), and a B.Tech. in electrical engineering from the India Institute of Technology. Prior to starting graduate school at Northwestern, he worked as a management consultant for McKinsey & Co. in India, where he served clients in retail and health care.
